The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia is a notable nonprofit with impressive results in their communities. A recent evaluation showed that 100% of graduating seniors were accepted into college, technical school or the military, 83% of the Club youth receive A’s and B’s on their report card and 66% of the Boys & Girls Clubs teens volunteer.
The organization serves over 1,400 youths every year across eight different club sites in the region and over 100,000 hot meals have been served to those who would have otherwise been hungry after school.
As is the case with most nonprofit organizations, they are always seeking ways to continue to maintain existing donors and bring in new friends. While the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia had a history of excellence among the eight communities it serves, the one significant fundraising opportunity that was missing was implementing a major special event.
In August of 2016, Phillip Bryant, Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia was in the beginning stages of planning the organization’s first ever major event, the Youth of the Year and Hall of Fame Induction Event for February 2017.
The sense of urgency came when, in addition to coordinating all the aspects of organizing and planning their first big event, the organization needed their website to handle the additional activities of: managing the influx of event registration and payments made online; confirming registration and communicating with attendees; the ability for donors to make additional online donations following the event, and easily tracking all the fundraiser undertakings.

With the event being held in less than 6 months, Bryant felt that Arreva’s software had the capabilities the Club needed to achieve their online goals successfully. In late August of 2016, he purchased the Online Fundraising software.
His objective was to begin promoting the event and registering guests by November. Arreva’s team of customer support specialists came through and worked tirelessly with the organization to get them up and running to meet the Club’s deadline.
“I’m sure I put a lot of pressure on the support team to get us up to speed in a short amount of time. They worked with us nonstop to build our pages and effectively implement the system,” said Bryant. “Anytime we needed anyone, they were right there. Many times when a company sells you a product, they disappear. I haven’t experienced anything like that with the Arreva team. They are always accessible!”
Using Arreva’s Online Fundraising software, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia were able to easily send out email blasts to donors and perspective donors, inviting them to attend the Youth of the Year event and register and make payments online.
The ease of online registration and email promotion paid off. The initial goals for the event were to have between 150–200 attendees and bring in around $50,000 in donations. They exceeded their goals well past expectations and the organization had well over 200 attendees and generated $72,000 for the Club.
Following the success of the event, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia utilized the contact information recorded from the event to send automatic “thank you” emails through the software, encouraging additional online donations and distributing email blasts and newsletters.
“We’ve had an enormous increase in our donations online. Before we implemented this system, we almost never received a credit card donation,” explains Bryant. “Now we see credit card donations coming in frequently.”
The ease of implementation and use of Arreva’s software, allows the staff at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia to spend more of their time focusing on the success of the youths they support in the community and honoring the stars of their programs through fruitful fundraising efforts.
